Dudek & Bock Engineering

Although not certified within the scope of their TS 16949/ISO 9001 certification as a component designer, an important source of value that customers common rely upon is the assistance Dudek & Bock commonly provides related to component design-based suggestions.  Amongst these include valuable input related to "design for manufacturability", component application-specific functionality, raw material type and surface condition specification and component "fit" with mating components within customer's end products.

Use of the APQP (Advanced Production Quality Planning) process on literally all components produced by Dudek & Bock ensures that products are produced using the optimum combination of machinery and processing methods thus ensuring that components are fully compliant with part-specific dimensional and property requirements on a consistent basis.

Being keenly aware of customer needs drive out costs on a continual basis, on an organization-wide, cross functional basis. Dudek & Bock places high priority on assisting customers in this never-ending quest.  Central to this goal - and the ability to assist customers in this crucial area - are the use of value engineering / value analysis (VA/VE) techniques championed by Dudek & Bock's engineering team.  Techniques such as component re-design / simplification (often as an outgrowth of customer product tear-downs and visitations to customers manufacturing lines), raw material substitution and surface modification alteration are common drivers of success in this area.

Related to this, the extensive escalation in metals prices from historical norms has made the importance of component over-design more crucial than ever.  In recognition of this, Dudek & Bock engineering places high priority upon assisting customers in avoidance of this all too common occurrence.

By way of example, the pictures shown on this page depicting the redesign of an automotive fuel line clip shifting away from use of a heavy metal stamping to a much lighter weight wire-form represents a powerful example of the type of VA/VE support capabilities Dudek & Bock engineering provides to customers on an ongoing basis.

Additionally, as stated under the Manufacturing heading, Dudek & Bock's engineering team commonly supports customer's application-specific needs through the design of custom made equipment.  In doing so, the ability to create an optimum combination of manufacturing capability, component design and cost are often possible.

In a collective sense, Dudek & Bock's engineering capabilities largely represents the engine upon which customer value is driven.
